Job purpose
To support lab scale automated oligonucleotide production and purification at Syngene.
Key Responsibilities:
- The candidate is expected to help in process development in the laboratory and provide technical inputs and hands on support to ongoing projects, based on thorough literature information or evaluation of available experimental data.
- Knowledge of chemical reaction optimization and experience in anion exchange chromatography and ultrafiltration is essential. Having previous oligonucleotide/peptide synthesis experience is desirable.
- Design and execute the automated solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis and purification at small to mid-scale.
- Method development for improved oligonucleotide synthesis and purifications, that can be translated to pilot scale production.
- Operate, maintain & troubleshoot oligonucleotide synthesis instruments, purification instruments and other scientific equipment.
- Supporting process engineers/production personal for the development of the processes feasible to execute at the manufacturing facility.
- Ability to develop a deep knowledge about oligonucleotide synthetic chemistry and probable troubleshooting. The candidate must have flexibility to learn new chemistry and techniques related to oligonucleotide synthesis.
- Transfer of chromatography and ultrafiltration processes from small scale to the large scale.
- Possess the knowledge and exposure to environment, health, and safety (EHS) practices
- Ensure environment, health, and safety (EHS) measures are always training and adhered within the team
Educational Qualification:
M.Sc in Biotechnology
Technical/functional Skills:
- Experience in working in a Biological/Peptide/Oligonucleotides upstream/downstream laboratory.
- Experience in setting up experiments and generate data suitable for technology transfer and execution at large scale.
- Good understanding of synthetic organic chemistry and solid phase synthesis.
- Experience in Unicorn software is desirable but not essential.
- Should be able to understand software interface for the various requirements in oligo synthesizer, Ultrafiltration or Chromatography.
Experience:
- 1-3 years post qualification
Behavioral Skills:
- Should have the capability to work in a team and ability to handle demonstrate a good team spirit.
- While possessing a good ability to follow instruction should also demonstrate innovative in his/her approach, good communication skills.
- Should be proactive while working on allotted responsibility.
