Job Description Summary


This position provides administration & automation of large scale Multi-Cloud database environments, supporting database builds, capacity planning, installations, configurations, performance tuning, monitoring and developing code for database provisioning and operational automation. The hallmark of our team is our ability to effectively enhance the database user experience for critical application systems, through constant learning, innovating and automating database solutions.


Roles and Responsibilities


In this role, you will be responsible for building, administering and automating [Oracle/MS-SQL/OpenSource (Postgres, MYSQL, AWS Aurora)] database platforms. You will work independently as well as collaborate with the team to deliver database solutions to match business requirements.


Certification in AWS or Azure in Developer/Devops, Database Admin or Architect paths.

Substantial IT experience in database and application support solutions especially in Cloud.


Proven experience in engineering and operationally supporting [Oracle/MS-SQL/OpenSource (Postgres, MYSQL, AWS Aurora)] in Cloud hosting environments.

Hands on experience in database migration tools like AWS DMS, AWS SCT and Azure DMS etc.


Experience in troubleshooting time critical database problems.

Experience in automating database operational tasks such as provisioning, de-provisioning, backups, patching, encryption etc. using cloud native technologies and scripting languages.


Experience in AWS RDS, Aurora and Azure PaaS/IaaS.

Ability to program in Bash shell scripts, Python and PSQL.

Preferred experience in Terraform, Cloud formation, Ansible, Chef etc.

Good communication & presentation skills with ability to work with remote teams and conduct meetings with application/business teams.

Self-motivated engineer who can solve problems independently.


Education Qualification


For roles outside USA:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with advanced experience.

Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:

Experience in any DevOps tools like Jenkins, AWS Codebuild and Azure DevOps

Preferred Experience in ITIL tools and exposure to Agile SDLC.

Organized, thorough, and detail oriented.

Collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources.

Eager to learn, shares ideas, encourages and accepts feedback well.

Interested in current and emerging technologies.

Familiarity with other DB technologies like Oracle, SQL.

High level of energy and enthusiasm, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.


Business Acumen:


Adept at navigating the organizational matrix; understanding people's roles, can foresee obstacles, identify workarounds, leverage resources and rally teammates.
Understand how internal and/or external business model works and facilitate active customer engagement
Able to articulate the value of what is most important to the business/customer to achieve outcomes
Able to produce functional area information in sufficient detail for cross-functional teams to utilize, using presentation and storytelling concepts.
Possess extensive knowledge of full solution catalog within a business unit and proficiency in discussing each area at an advanced level.
Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent quality certification

Leadership:
Demonstrated working knowledge of internal organization
Foresee obstacles, identify workarounds, leverage resources, rally teammates.
Demonstrated ability to work with and/or lead blended teams, including 3rd party partners and customer personnel.
