Job Overview

Are you an expert UI developer with a passion for creating delightful user experiences and scalable solutions? ThoughtWorks is seeking a Lead UI Developer to act as a primary point of contact with clients, driving the vision and delivery of modern UI solutions. In this role, you will combine strategic thinking with hands-on technical execution to lead development teams in creating exceptional products. You will mentor team members, collaborate with clients, and innovate to deliver high-quality software that exceeds expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Champion Best Practices:

• Advocate for best practices like TDD (Test-Driven Development), pair programming, design patterns, and continuous delivery to ensure high-quality software delivery and early value realization for end customers.

End-to-End Software Delivery:

• Oversee or participate in the complete cycle of software consulting and delivery from ideation through to post-production evolution ensuring that business goals are met with technical excellence.

Solution Design & Technology Selection:

• Design solutions that address clients unique challenges, balancing technical constraints and strategic goals. Choose the best technologies to create scalable, modular UI systems.

UI System Development:

• Build user interfaces that are not only functional but also delightful, accessible, and mobile-first. Develop using the latest HTML, CSS, and JavaScript standards.

Collaboration & Innovation:

• Work closely with teams to create features, design concepts, and interactive prototypes. Incorporate UX specifications and ensure best practices are embedded at every stage.

Hands-On Development:

• Continue coding alongside developers to maintain technical depth. Lead by example and contribute directly to building high-quality solutions.

DevSecOps & Continuous Delivery:

• Champion the use of DevSecOps practices, advocating for security and integrating continuous delivery pipelines to ensure rapid and secure software deployment.

Client & Team Leadership:

• Own and drive client relationships, translating their vision into actionable technical solutions. Mentor team members, fostering a culture of growth, feedback, and accountability.

Stay on Top of New Technologies:

• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and incorporate the latest Technology Radar trends into your solutions.

Job Qualifications

Technical Skills:

• Experience: 9-15 years of hands-on experience in UI development, with expertise in JavaScript, Typescript, and Angular (latest version).
• Frontend Architecture Expertise: Deep understanding of modern UI concepts such as design systems, atomic design, micro frontends, progressive web apps, and backend for frontends (BFF).
• Responsive & Mobile-First Development: Proven ability to build responsive, mobile-first experiences with complex CSS layouts and best practices.
• Microfrontend Architecture: Extensive experience designing and implementing microfrontend architecture, with a strong understanding of its principles and benefits.
• Cross-Browser Compatibility: Skilled in resolving cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility issues and using appropriate workarounds.
• Development Tools: Proficient in TypeScript, familiar with JavaScript build tools, and comfortable using CI/CD tools and TDD approaches.
• Web Standards & Accessibility: Strong knowledge of web accessibility standards and the latest web technologies (HTTP, multi-tiered web architectures).

• Leadership & Mentorship: Act as a mentor to junior team members, fostering growth through technical expertise and a commitment to delivering extraordinary results.
• Client-Facing: Ability to develop and execute a technical vision aligned with business value, and serve as a trusted partner to clients.
