Role Overview
As an Engineering Manager on the Twilio Flex team, you will lead the Flex Billing & Backend engineers to expand and enhance the product s feature set and overall solution scope. Flex is a customizable contact center platform that enables customers to tailor communication solutions to their unique business needs.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver outstanding customer experiences with a focus on scalability, reliability, and usability.
- Lead, mentor, and advocate for your team, prioritizing their growth and success.
- Understand and guide the architecture and operational processes behind complex, distributed, always-on cloud systems.
- Promote agile best practices, continuous integration, and test automation across the team.
- Strategically manage broad scopes from ideation through continuous operation of 24x7 production services.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders including product managers, architects, engineers, and support teams.
- Manage multiple workstreams and priorities effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
- 10+ years of professional experience in software development with at least 5 years of proven leadership and people management.
- Strong technical background in:
- REST APIs
- Java or GoLang programming
- Relational databases such as MySQL
- Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Modern automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
- SaaS telemetry and observability tools (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus)
- Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Broad knowledge of development tools and deployment processes.
- Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, continuous integration, and automation-first approaches.
- Experience owning and operating production services end-to-end, from design and development through deployment and monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in contact center or customer engagement platforms.
- Experience delivering billing or financial transaction solutions.
Work Location & Travel
- Fully remote role within India (Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra & New Delhi preferred).
- Occasional travel may be required for team meetings or customer engagement events.
