Description

Cassandra Database Administrator is responsible for overseeing the database administration functions of the Cloud services department. This position is responsible for database planning, design, and implementation, as well as the maintenance and optimization of PostgreSQL/Enterprise DB PPAS database supporting our Cloud application.

This role will work closely with the DBAs, development, architecture, and infrastructure teams to design and administer databases to provide and enforce contractual SLAs.

Cassandra SME with expertise in designing, building, and maintaining Database products along with their roadmaps being on par with the latest technological trends.
Datastore expertise with a deep understanding of Cassandra, its use cases, caveats/gotchas, limitations, and strengths.
Proficiency with Python or shell
Understanding of data architecture, replication, and administration
Extensive knowledge of Linux/Unix
Responsible, dedicated, and responsive in non-working hours as needed
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Configure replication for HA and Geo-redundancy.
Experience with CQL scripting.
End-to-end performance tuning of Cassandra clusters
Backups, restore, and recovery of the Cassandra database.
Experience with Cassandra read writes paths and internal architecture
Experience with MVs
Experience with Cassandra data capture (CDC)
Cassandra database administration on a multi-datacenter cluster.
Must have hands-on experience in setting up a Cassandra cluster.
Must have experience in monitoring, performance tuning, and managing Cassandra cluster.
Strong understanding of complex inner workings of Cassandra, such as the gossip protocol, hinted handoffs, read repairs, Merkle trees.
In-depth knowledge of architecting and creating Cassandra/no SQL database systems.
Solid understanding of No SQL Database
Solid experience in writing Cassandra queries, materialized views
Expert in data structure design, Data Modelling in Cassandra
Excellent written and verbal skills
Expert in problem-solving, planning, organization, and documentation
Cloud SaaS (multi-tenant) environment experience preferred
Linux Administration (RHEL) experience preferred
Ability to excel in a cohesive team environment
Communicates effectively to both technical and non-technical individuals at various levels of customer and internal organizations.
Uses consultative techniques and skills in their service delivery.
Works as a member of a 24 x 7 team.


-- Exposure to Oracle/PostgreSQL/Enterprise DB PPAS will be an added advantage.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. They will possess strong consultative abilities and communication skills which they will leverage to tie their technical recommendations to business benefits and process change. After initial training, they normally require little instruction on their day-to-day work.

BE/ B.Tech/ MCA or equivalent experience in Computer Science.

8-12 years of experience working as a Cassandra DBA with experience of supporting Cloud customer-facing production environments.
* Experience managing 24x7 production support.
* Strong knowledge of UNIX/LINUX platforms.
* Must be able to manage time effectively and to deliver on commitments
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Must be able to operate well in a team environment and when under pressure
* Knowledge of Java platforms and middleware is plus (e.g. Apache, Tomcat, etc.)
* Exposure to Oracle/PostgreSQL/Enterprise DB PPAS will be an added advantage.
