A key part of VMwares cloud strategy is management of operations and automation for private, public and hybrid clouds. The Cloud Management Business Unit (CMBU) is developingseveralhybrid cloud management capabilities, accessible as SaaS services. Central to transformation of IT as we know it, the strategy will lead to an industry first multi-cloud management platforms and products. As a key leader of the vRealize Log Insight Cloud R&D team, you will be required to work hands-on with cutting edge technologies, tools and development processes. From design of scalable andhighlyperformant solutions, to communicating, implementing and supporting them, thejobwill require cross-geo and cross-functional interactions on a constant basis. Your roles and responsibilities:

• Your goal is tolead a team of engineers todesign, build and productionize platform/workflowcomponents for our cutting edge hyper-scale log analytics solution
• You will own common platform components used across VMware, managing stakeholders owning critical cloud services
• Lead multiple scrum teams through various delivery phases of design, implementation,deploymentandoperational aspects of complex services
• Provide technical leadership in the form of design reviews, riskidentificationand mitigation, technical mentorship andguidance.
• Define strategic roadmap a few quarters out. Run the day to day operations of your teams
• Acquire, motivate, reward and retain topindustrytalent
• Work across cross-functional and cross-geo boundaries to ensure alignment and sanity.

Required skills:

• Minimum10years of hands-on software development experience. Minimum 3 of those in a management role with direct reports
• Ability to motivate, grow and lead highly skilled entry to senior level engineers
• Demonstrable experienceleading scalable and highly available distributed systems
• Experienceleading SaaS systems
• Provenstrategicand tactical leadership as thesituationsdemands
• Demonstrable experience working with and providing inputs to with cross functional teams: Product Management, DevOps, Quality Assurance, User Experience, Information Experience and Release Management
• Familiaritywith Agilemethodologiesand running multiple scrum teams
• Strong sense of ownership and a buck stops here mentality
• Prior experience working in geographically dispersed teams
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Ability and willingness to participate in on-duty rotations and 2nd tier product support
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Preferred skills:

• 12+ years over all experience
• Knowledge and/or experience working with technologies like ELK, Solr or other search analytics platforms would be a strong plus
• Knowledge of Kafka or similar technologies. Hands on experience would be a plus
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker and AWS, or equivalent cloud and container technologies
• Experience indesigning/buildingplatforms that are scalable and fault tolerant
• Experience with multiple languages (Java,Python) and multiple frameworks (RDBMS,Redisetc)
• Customer support and management experience, internal and external, would be big plus
• Masters degree in Computer Science or related field
