Job Role and Responsibilities:

The Learning Programs team, under the Worldwide Readiness, Assessment, Certification, and Enablement (WWRACE) organization, is seeking a candidate with a strong instructional design background and skills to design, develop, and update training materials using various tools and strategies. Our team is responsible for providing enablement training for our sales force and partners, so knowledge of sales and sales methodologies is highly desirable.

You will be responsible for working with key partners and subject-matter experts (SMEs) to consult on and complete projects, implement feedback, and apply instructional design standards and criteria. You will interact with global teams and SMEs, and work with partners who are located in different geographies such as the Americas, Europe/Middle East/Africa, and Asia Pacific. The position requires a self-starter with strong communication and presentation skills, understanding of instructional design methodologies and processes, and the ability to work with a range of different roles in the sales organization.

VMware has a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment, which will require you to handle shifting priorities, build strong credible relationships, and distill a variety of feedback into consumable data and reference points to drive content, training, program, and communications improvement.

Responsibilities & Scope

  • Use instructional design knowledge to develop effective and engaging instructional materials that meet audience needs
  • Create/follow the high-level design to develop training and enablement content for field representatives and/or partners (including but not limited to instructor-led presentations, sales assets, e-Learning courses) using sound writing, communication, and instructional design principles and strategies
  • Develop simulations, job aids, assessment questions, etc. to support courseware
  • Conduct design and content reviews effectively and in a timely manner
  • Work cross-functionally and develop a trusting partnership with stakeholders, SMEs, and cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrate collaboration with members of the Learning Programs team and actively contribute to internal discussions and projects
  • Learn new VMware products; translate complex information and concepts into accessible learning materials
  • Attain basic knowledge of networking, storage, client/server applications, end-user computing tools, cloud offerings, etc.
  • Regularly report status of projects and weekly activities

Required Skills:

  • 3-5 years of experience in instructional design, preferably in sales enablement environment
  • Experience developing training content in a variety of learning formats; experience with instructor-led training and e-learning format is a must
  • Clear, professional, and concise communications (written/verbal), presentation and facilitation skills, attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and complete assigned deliverables within the defined time with limited supervision

Required Experience and Education:

  • 3-5 years of instructional design experience, preferably with the development of sales and technical courses in a high-tech context
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent is mandatory; graduate-level instructional degree is preferred
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint) and eLearning authoring tools (Articulate 360 and Captivate) is mandatory
  • Knowledge of Xyleme is preferred
  • Knowledge of Adobe Connect, Adobe Creative Cloud, Panopto, Refract.tv, VideoScribe, Learning Management Systems, such as SABA is preferred
