Job Summary

Come join VMwares new and exciting Modern Applications Platforms Business Unit (MAPBU) team, made up of products and services under the Tanzu portfolio to help customers build, run and manage their most important applications. We build data services management applications which can manage the entire life cycle of varied data services to run in a cloud-native environment.

You will work with a highly motivated and dynamic team and have the opportunity to participate in all phases of the software development process.

A successful candidate will have a strong self-directed work ethic to thrive in a fast pace environment. They will bring broad technical experience, creative problem-solving skills and a passion for technology and coding. They are motivated to work closely with cross functional teams across geographic locations to ensure product delivery. They take ownership and hold themselves personally accountable to product success.

Basic Qualifications:

5-12 years of software development experience

BE/BTECH/ME/MTECH in Computer Science or equivalent

Required Skills:

  • Experience building production software with Go, Python
  • Architecture and design skills
  • Data structures and fundamental programming concepts and techniques
  • Production experience with scalability, security, high-availability, software maintenance and software updates.
  • Strong experience with Linux systems and its internals and fundamental operating systems concepts .
  • Experience with modern container driven application development and deployment stack Cloud Native Apps, Kubernetes, Microservices Architectures, Containers/Docker Internals, Container Registries.
  • Practical experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment software development practices.
  • Hands-on networking fundamentals - TCP/IP , DNS, DHCP , L2/L3 protocols
  • Team player, excellent communication skills including listening skills.
  • You are able to work well both independently and as a team member.
  • You will collaborate with other engineers and ensure best engineering practices are followed in software development.

Good to have:

  • Experience with Virtualization stack ESX, vSphere ,VMs and related networking concepts is a definite plus
  • Java and Java Spring stack development experience
  • Practical experience with Public Cloud Infrastructure AWS, GCP, Azure
