Job Summary Roles and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update inventory by studying usage reports; identifying trends; anticipating needed supplies and cost allocations.
  • Check and control on consumable items.
  • Ensure comprehensive care is given to each patient and evaluates the services rendered.
  • Ensure schedule of nursing personnel for adequate staffing for each shift by maintaining Nurse patient ratio.
  • Collaborates with Nurse in-charges in determining and obtaining equipment and supply needed in the performance of patient care.
  • Actively participate in setting and implementing patient care standards.
  • Counseling relatives when required.
  • Co-ordinate with the consultants to ensure that good nursing care is provided.
  • Ensure all consultants orders are executed in accordance with established policies and procedure.
  • Apprise on nursing problem and advise suitable action for these problems to Lead Nursing.
  • Assist the Lead Nursing in the overall management of the assigned nursing areas and 24*7 nursing services.
  • Assist Lead Nursing and educator for training and their evaluation process.
  • Keep and update knowledge of the unit and drug changes and instruct staff for such changes.
Functions in a leadership and supervisory role for staff nurses. Responsible for assisting with supervision, direction and coordination of nursing personnel. Makes appropriate room and care giver assignments to optimize patient placement and workload balance throughout the shift. Develops objectives for the management of the unit. Ensure staff discipline. Works with the Nursing- HOD on improving patient care and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist Lead Nursing in the investigation of reports of incidents, suspected infections and patient/doctor complaints and resolve problems or recommend proper action.
  • Ensure Infection Control compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters. Ensure compliance by internal audit.
  • Identify appropriate internal controls for department; provide mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
  • Ensure proper disposal of sharps and hospital waste.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Provide on job training to nursing personnel and keep them informed of the culture, policies and procedures to be followed in caring for patients and their companions.
  • Evaluate the work performance of the staff on duty & provide advice and support to staff on work related problems and prepare documented report.
  • Counsel staff on personal and work related issues or any kind of dissatisfaction.
  • Plan and organize staff work assignments and schedules. Plan staffing before two shifts.
  • Ensure leave management and its uniformity in entire department.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Accomplishing organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different request; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
