Job Purpose

Color Technology in R&D is responsible for Innovative Research in the field of Color development algorithm and modelling, Instrument technology, color design and many digital technologies including Machine Learning/AI and IT landscape around it. Our current applications are used in the Color R&D labs of different Business units, Integrated Supply Chain and customers in the Market. Since you will be part of the global Color Application Integration team within Color Technology, which deals with end-to-end processes, your solutions can result in a significant impact on our world-wide business.

Key Accountabilities

• You will be part of the R&D Color Technology group with the aim to participate in global color innovation projects based on science, equipment technology, color matching algorithms with modelling, color design technologies and many digital technologies including Machine Learning and AI.

• Ensure execution and on time delivery of work packages coming from projects.
• Responsible for design of Experiments (DoE), action planning, analysis methodology and work break down structure required to do the analysis related to the project activities assigned.
• Analyses and derive conclusions from colorimetric test data, using mathematical formulas, and report results and propose modifications.
• Contributes as project team member in projects which deal with instrument development and implementation and/or innovative colorimetric research projects/activities.
• Communicate research status and results to stakeholders.
• Bring subject matter expertise in the area of data based analytic/ machine learning, visualizations (etc.) and conduct research in these areas.

Key Activities

Color Research Digital

• Support the screening and benchmarking of prototype and commercial color instruments from market.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of color measuring instruments and its applications and act as a global help desk for technical issues related to color instruments and its associated tools.
• Support the competitor analysis of color related hardware and software (qualitative and quantitative).
• Accountable for designing preventative and corrective maintenance of color instruments and peripheral equipment.
• Actively participate and give Colorimetry technical feedback on testing of internal research test gear tools.
• Responsible for making the recommendations to BU s on Lab/Color Work Requests related to color instrumentation or colorimetric subjects.
• Write technical reports and International Research Reports about research analysis, results and conclusions including statistical analysis and literature references that are according to standards for International Research Reports.
• Application owner or Product Owner of specific applications being used in different BU s globally.
• Responsible for delivering, preparing and modifying the color technology course to various BU color teams as and when required.
• Contributes as project team member in projects which deal with instrument development and implementation and/or innovative colorimetric research projects/activities

Experience

• A master s degree with minimum 7 years of work experience in projects. Preferably working experience in multi-cultural and cross-functional global teams.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Good knowledge in Design of Experiments and statistical analysis. Ability to handle complex data and interpret results after analyzing the data.
• Know-how and hands own experience in handling different types of Color measurement instruments /Spectrophotometers.
• Experiences with Python and/or R (or similar programming languages)
• In depth understanding of machine learning algorithms (Regression, Clustering, Decision Trees, RandomForest)
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while working independently.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office. Good skills in written and oral communications in English.

Education

India: Academic (Master / bachelor) level or 7 year relevant experience with industrial/academic R&D.

Netherlands/UK: Higher education (HBO) or 7 year relevant experience with industrial/academic R&D.
