DESCRIPTION

Amazon is looking for a customer-obsessed Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) Manager who will play a key role in supporting our Finance Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization. This role will run across different businesses that we support from FOAA FP&A BLR. This role will partner closely with the business teams to understand the data-needs and ensure successful delivery on the same. This individual will participate in business reviews and new-initiatives. They should be able to identify and help close gaps in the information available, as well as predict up-and-coming data-needs when participating in discussions about new products or features.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the due diligence process in terms of the nature of the intake activities, understand the effort estimation, tech skills required, appropriate resource fitment and builds consensus with business and operations teams and communicate effectively with all stakeholders. Makes technical trade-offs between short-term needs and long-term goals at the time of due diligence
- Use technical expertise to suggest ways to improve processes and incorporate operational excellence best practices
- Use analytical and statistical rigor to answer business questions and drive business decisions
- Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, design, analysis, validation, and documentation
- Improve the Knowledge management environment by providing guidance in technical documentation / working papers
- People effectiveness - Actively participate in the hiring process as well as mentor others - improving their skills, their technical knowledge, and their ability to get things done


Tech Skills
- Data Warehousing, Modelling and SQL expertise to build and optimize queries and extract data
- VBA and Python expertise to handle large data sets and smoothen existing/redundant processes
- Visualization expertise to create stand-alone dashboards using visualization tools i.e. QuickSight, Power BI & Tableau
- Knowledge and direct experience using business intelligence reporting / visualization tools (Excel, OBIEE, Business Objects, Cognos, Tableau, Cubes, etc.)
- Experience data modeling and transformation of large scale data sources using SQL, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, EMR, or other Big Data technologies
- Knowledge of scripting for automation (e.g. Python, Perl, R etc. )

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of experience as an analyst or engineer in the data/BI space
Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
Experience with SQL
- Advanced knowledge of BI tools, MySQL, Linux/UNIX
- Experience with AWS solutions such as Redshift, S3, EC2, and DynamoDB
- Experience with statistical analysis and R
- Experience in designing and delivering cross functional custom reporting solutions
- Be self-driven, and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or dirty data
- An ability and interest in working in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Masters Degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or Mathematics
- Experience using very large datasets
- 3+ years prior experience in a BI role with a technology company or financial institution
- Knowledge of scripting for automation (e.g., Python, Perl, Ruby)
