Research Consultant Restoration Job in Ashoka Trust For Research In Ecology And The Environment

For this purpose, ATREE is looking to hire a researcher with a background in ecosystem restoration/biodiversity and/or natural resource conservation/conservation biology/socio-ecological research to lead our efforts to compile a recommended best practices guidebook on restoration of lands affected by Lantana camara in India.

Desirable professional skills include:

• Research experience on ecosystem restoration and/or biodiversity conservation with respect to invasive alien species (IAS)
• Ideally, the researcher will have knowledge and experience across a range of biodiversity and invasive alien species (IAS) assessment, and restoration strategies with respect to agro-forestry species.
• Knowledge on and work experience on institutional governance structures for landscape restoration will be advantageous.

Desirable personal skills include:

• Ability to conduct systematic literature reviews and qualitative interviews.
• Ability to liaise with external partners, and communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated ability to organise work, manage time, determine priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Background:

Minimum Master s degree in Biology, Conservation and Sustainable Management or a related field with 5-7 years of experience and a passion for ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation and/or management of invasive alien species.

Deliverable:

A report on best practices for restoration of Lantana infested landscapes. The consultant will a) review current and potential removal, management and restoration activities for Lantana infested landscapes; and b) and reviews monitoring programmes for such landscapes.

This is a short-term consultancy assignment for four months, with a possibility of extension of upto twelve months.. We are reviewing applications on a rolling basis. The position will remain open till a suitable candidate is found.
