Job Summary
JOB DUTIES:This position is a first line manager and will have multiple professional engineers and experts reporting directly to it. The entire team is composed of various levels of team leaders, engineers and support personnel.
This role requires a long-range focus on business strategy. Key responsibilities include
planning for future resources and developing capabilities in terms of people and technology, consciously establishing a culture that encourages innovation, partnering and collaborative relationships and a customer focus;developing partnerships within Caterpillar and with suppliers and customers;integrating products and services to meet customers needs.
Key requirements areprevious team leadership experience and organization skills;advanced program management skills;excellent human relations, interpersonal, and communication skills;ability to deal with sensitive issues, mentor and coach and/or persuade others on new technologies, new applications, or potential solutions;ever increasing skills in the Caterpillar Leadership competencies - Be Strategic, Focus on the Enterprise, Global Leadership, Lead Change, Hold Self and Others Accountable, Know your Customer, Build Engagement, and Coach for Development;ability to support strategy setting at division level;capability to solve problems for medium speed engine technologies, components, products, or processes;deep knowledge of product development skills such as conceptual design, development of product and/or process, data analysis & extraction, failure resolution & prevention, requirements and project managementchange management leadership capabilities and adaptation to increased competitive pressure, product complexity and customer demands;management of new technologies;business understanding.
The position will be essential in leading the organization, sourcing technical staff, replacing expertise and growing technical experts through a period of extensive change.
In making decisions, this position will work with different internal customers across the globe like manufacturing managers, supply chain and NPI managers. Decisions will directly impact engine products, processes and factories.
The position has primary accountability for the operating expense budget and is accountable for protecting Caterpillars intellectual property by properly classifying and restricting access to Caterpillar technical information related to their area of responsibility.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:PhD/Masters degree in an accredited Indian or Global Engineering schoolsProficiency with engine design & development.Basic proficiency in German language, advanced English languageExcellent analytical skillsAbility to perform complex assignmentsSelf-starter with strong project management skillsEnjoys working in a fast paced, technically challenging environment

Qualifications
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:This position will require a qualified Engineering Degree (BE, BTech) with at least 10 years of experience, combined with business knowledge and previous project or people leadership experience. Strong analytical skills and proven team leadership skills are required. An advanced degree is highly desired. Experience in managing global stakeholders and partners.
