JOB PURPOSE:Leading a group of technical specialist(s) and supervisor(s) engaged in Engine product design related to technology, components, products or processes, including product maintenance and new product introduction.
JOB DUTIES:This position is a first line manager and will have multiple professional engineers and experts reporting directly to it. The entire team is composed of various levels of team leaders, engineers and support personnel.
This role requires a long-range focus on business strategy. Key responsibilities include
planning for future resources and developing capabilities in terms of people and technology, consciously establishing a culture that encourages innovation, partnering and collaborative relationships and a customer focus;developing partnerships within Caterpillar and with suppliers and customers;integrating products and services to meet customers needs.

The position will be essential in leading the organization, sourcing technical staff, replacing expertise and growing technical experts through a period of extensive change.
In making decisions, this position will work with different internal customers across the globe like manufacturing managers, supply chain and NPI managers. Decisions will directly impact engine products, processes and factories.
The position has primary accountability for the operating expense budget and is accountable for protecting Caterpillars intellectual property by properly classifying and restricting access to Caterpillar technical information related to their area of responsibility.

Qualifications

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:This position will require a qualified Engineering Degree (BE, BTech) with at least 10 years of experience, combined with business knowledge and previous project or people leadership experience. Strong analytical skills and proven team leadership skills are required. An advanced degree is highly desired. Experience in managing global stakeholders and partners. Willingness to travel globally up to 15%.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:PhD/Masters degree in an accredited Indian or Global Engineering schoolsProficiency with engine design & development.Basic proficiency in German language, advanced English languageExcellent analytical skillsAbility to perform complex assignmentsSelf-starter with strong project management skillsEnjoys working in a fast paced, technically challenging environment
