A project is a temporary endeavour established to produce a specific deliverable. The Project Manager is responsible and accountable for the delivery of agreed project outputs to the agreed time, cost and quality parameters within the agreed scope. The Project Manager will manage and coordinate the activity of specialists, technicians and analysts to ensure that tasks are performed that result in the project deliverable. Where a project forms part of a wider programme, the project manager will have a functional reporting line to a Programme Manager.

Your key responsibilities

The Data Centre Project Manager will support the following activities as directed by the Data Centre Transformation Portfolio Director.

  • Establish a detailed plan for the designated project, including defining scope, deliverables, timeline, resourcing requirements, risks, issues and dependencies ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are engaged.
  • Chair project meetings and participate in weekly meetings for dependant projects. Prepare and issue project meetings
  • Define and maintain the project plan in Microsoft Project, ensuring it is reviewed and updated weekly to accurately reflect progress.
  • Provide regular feedback on deliverables of all team members and escalate as necessary
  • Partner with subject matter experts from various Group Technology Infrastructure (GTI) functions and CTO areas to define and track deliverables.
  • Provide oversight of vendor resources supporting project delivery.
  • Review project financials to ensure all costs are tracked, purchase orders raised and invoices received and booked against the project in a timely manner.
  • Ensure variances are forecast well in advance for reinvestment where appropriate.
  • Complete Clarity reporting including status updates, logging of risks and issues and ensuring all milestones are accurately reported.
  • Work closely with PMO to ensure all changes impacting benefits, budget, scope, deliverables and milestones are logged and presented at the appropriate forum.
  • Understand the benefits associated with the designated project and ensure these are tracked and any variance or risk to delivery is reported.
  • Validate all project documents and ensure they are loaded to the document repository.

Your skills and experience

  • Five or more years of technical project management experience, in a data centre environment.
  • Experience leading projects in a data centre environment including areas such as construction to operations, capacity planning, turn-ups and decommissioning and process and tooling innovation.
  • Proficiency in project management software tools including but not limited to Microsoft Project, Clarity, Jira and Confluence, etc.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team spread across the globe
  • Strong vendor management experience preferred.
  • Analytical and strong organisational skills, with time management skill.
  • Experience communicating stakeholders across different teams and locations.
  • Experience in project initiation, defining detailed plan, budget and deliverables.
  • Able to work in fast paced environment, keep pace with technical / operational innovation and maintain a broad understanding of the business offering.
  • Strong influencing skills to drive change and represent the DBs interests in the external market.
  • Articulate and able to work directly with a broad range of stakeholders.
