Job Title Lead Systems Engineering

The Purpose of This Role

Windows engineering is one of the key roles within the DCS platform engineering group under Enterprise Infrastructure. Platform engineering team ensure standards across operating system builds and automation to scale up the deployment across different platform like physical servers, virtual infrastructure and cloud. This role also encompasses working with internal business units to help remediate audit findings, certify/build/test/deploy new functionality with extensive use of automation.

The Value You Deliver

  • You will be supporting the Windows environment for stability and feature enhancements. You will also be working closely with vendors and 3rd party software providers for integration.
  • You will be working to certify windows image for different hardware and software platform. This needs extensive testing of drivers and firmwares which goes into the build for deployment. You will also be working on remediation for any security/audit/compliance issues. Based on business unit requirements you may be required to work on custom solutions in line with standards and guidelines as documented by the parent organization.
  • As part of your daily routine, you will be working closely with the operations team to handle any engineering escalations, projects either internal or business unit requirement, vulnerability remediation's and builds/certifications.

The Skills that are Key to this role

Technical / Behavioral

  • Your expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2012/2016 and 2019 will be crucial for this role on different hardware, virtual and cloud platforms.
  • You should have a fair understanding of CICD with Jenkins.
  • Your understanding and use of powercli will be required for automation. If you know other automation tools like packers or ansible, that will add to it.
  • You should be able to package patches/software for extensive deployment.
  • You should be able to drive any project/enhancement/remediation's and update stakeholders periodically.
  • You should be prepared for a learning culture and quickly adapt to new technologies.

The Skills that are Good to Have for this role

  • You should have a very good communication and be able to work across teams in different time zones
  • You should be able to work independently, and an exploratory nature will be a great additive.
  • You will be working in an agile environment so its desired if you know how to prioritize and work with Jira tickets.
  • Your work involves working with database teams as well, so any knowledge towards MS-Sql database will be good.
  • A small amount of your time will be required for Azure/AWS deployments and builds so, any basic working knowledge of public cloud may help you.
