Job Summary

Key responsibilities:

The individual will be responsible for heading this business. Product management, project management and business development will be the primary responsibilities of the leader.

  • Product Management
    • Should understand the requirements of the crop insurance sector and conceptualize offerings that address the information needs of the users.
    • Design a detailed roadmap for creation of that product.
    • Competitive intelligence to understand product, sales & pricing strategies of competition.
    • Launch plan including plan for rapid customer acquisition, trial strategies and pricing and discount schemes.
  • Project Management
    • Creating a project plan for product development upgrades existing product and creating new products product definition, user interface requirements, product functionality required, input data requirement.
    • Assigning resources required to implement the project plan within a given time-frame. This will include line reporting, as well as temporary assignment of resources for a short-term to this leader. The leader needs to present a clear resource requirement plan, build consensus and staff proactively.
    • Constant monitoring and review of the progress of the product. Leader should prioritize between features and find the shortest route to market with a viable product, and then continue to upgrade and add additional features over time.
  • Business Development
    • The leader needs to create a business plan assessing the size of opportunity, define the target audience and number of prospective customers. Accordingly, a product-wise sales target must be created annually and for three-to-five-year horizon.
    • The leader needs to build good relationships with all General Insurance clients, agri-input companies including seeds, pesticides and fertilizer companies, commodity traders, state agricultural departments, ministry of agriculture, agricultural research organizations and other leading stakeholders in this area.
    • The leader must build a team of 2-3 effective sales leaders and deliver as per the business plan.
    • The leader must plan awareness and relationship-building activities such as participation and speaking/presentation in seminars, conferences and organizing of industry events, and other public relations initiatives to build a high profile for RMSI in this spce.

    Successful candidate must have the following:

    • An MBA, with proven Business Leadership capability with a proven track record.
    • 10 to 15 years of relevant work experience preferably in the area of agriculture, of which at least 5 years should be at a leadership level spent in leading cross-functional teams.
    • Should have strong analytical skill set and decision making ability and form judgment on the basis of data being generated/ presented.
    • Should be innovative and ability to think creatively
    • Self driven & results oriented
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and inter personal skills
    • Good client engagement skills
