Automotive Design Engineer - ENGINEERING

As a member of the Engineering team (one of the divisions in SEDIN), you will be responsible for the Product design and development applications. You will be working with other engineers and developers on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and creating quality products is essential.

Where you ll do it: This role is hybrid (based out of Chennai & Bangalore, India)

An initial screening of the resume leads to a 4-stage interview process lasting atleast a week: 15-minute HR chat 30-minute Technical Round (sometimes paired with a short take-home exercise ) 30-minute call with the Operations Head to discuss the position & fit 1 -hour final interview with the CEO/CFO to assess a culture fit

You wil design and build high-performance, reusable, and reliable Apex code with best practices

You will be responsible for providing hands on expert level guidance to junior developers for technical issues

You will ensure the best possible quality of the application.

You will Identify bugs and align with requirements during debugging

You will Explore new updates from every release and critical updates in project applications.

You will Perform code reviews and ensure the quality of the deliverables.

You have good Communication & client facing skills

You have minimum 5 years of experience for Automation Design Engineer Profile [Certificate will be validated]

You have minimum 2 years of experience for Design Profile [Certificate will be validated]

You have worked on multiple Client facing projects

You have good experience in SolidWorks, Catia V5, Unigraphics.

You are Flexible to work remotely and if required from office [Chennai/Bangalore] based on the project needs.

Skills & Qualifications:

• 4+ years of work experience in the Automotive Industry (Product Design and Development)
• Experience in NPD and worked in the full life cycle of product development
• In-depth Knowledge of Interior & Exterior Plastic Trims
• Good knowledge of plastic part design & tooling feasibility with Tool direction definition, parting line and master sections study.
• Proficient knowledge of manufacturing process, Injection molding, Composites, RPT, Compression molding and Thermoforming process
• Proficient Knowledge in Cabin Interior and Exterior Plastic parts design - A & B surface creation and Engineering features
• Perform Detail design, associated documentation, and reports as per customer requirements
• Good skills in 3D concept development, 2D development drawings, and handling of large assemblies
• Understand the customer requirements and suggest alternative feasible concepts
• Creation of product Spec book or SOR for the RFQ
• Ability to apply and interpret the GD&T, DFMEA, and Tolerance Stack up as needed
• Knowledge of various manufacturing processes like sheet metal operations & machining
• Coordinating with cross-functional team members within the organization and Participating in design reviews of Mechanical systems and Prototypes
• BOM preparation, manufacturing drawings & drawing standard knowledge
• Hands-on experience in PLM and PDM tools
• Ability to work independently and drive the project
• Design products using CAD, Develop drawings with GD&T, and consult with engineering and manufacturing Teammates to ensure design feasibility
• Performing design studies, Engineering calculations, and CAE for design validation and release
• Preparation of DVP & Life data analysis DFMEA, DVP, DFM & DFA
• VA/VE projects Cost reduction - Making design proposals in the system to reduce cost without compromising the quality, functionality and product life
• Coordinate with the vendor to design and develop the product to meet the M&S requirements and timeline
• Field concern resolution.

• Responsible for the design of Bus Exterior/Interior Plastic trims.
• Hands-on experience in UGNX or CATIA, Exposure to complex Surface 3D Modelling.
• Good knowledge on plastic part design & tooling feasibility with Tool direction definition, parting line and master sections study.
• Preparation of concepts and detailed parametric design (parts and assemblies) of Interior/Exterior components like Dashboard, pillar capping, inner side cladding, instrument panel, glove box, Front & Rear Fascia Inner Bulkheads & AC duct.
• Responsible for the development of products/parts and release of the solutions into the system with complete product ownership and tackling quality issues effectively
• Responsible for new Concepts, feasibility, design, testing/validation and development projects within the area of assignment to fulfill the project set Quality, Delivery, Cost and Feature targets.
• Generating (VA/VE) and Continuous Improvement ideas to reduce product costs and drive/support implementation as needed.
• Analyzing component parts and assemblies to determine the best course of action required to resolve actual or potential problems and implement cost effective solutions.
• Responsible for independently driving Cross-functional activities to close out development open points and achieve set project deliverables.
• Collaborating with CFT, engineers mostly at Cab, Chassis, Styling, Vehicle Architecture, Verification & Validation team both locally as well as Other sites within Daimler.
• Managing system, subsystem, and component level design requirements through cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
• Build & follow component design time plan to meet the project deadline
