Job Purpose:
The incumbent will perform protein purification and characterization from various expression systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently perform protein purification from various expression systems (Mammalian, E. coli & Insect cell) and QC.
- Prepare detailed reports for sharing with clients and attend telecons.
- Improve lab efficiency and streamlines the operational processes to increase productivity.
- Analyze operational problems, identify solutions, and implement corrective actions.
- Guide and train research scientists in the team at various levels.
- Follow environment, health, and safety (EHS) requirements at all times in the workplace ensuring individual and lab/plant safety
- Attend training on environment, health, and safety (EHS) measures imparted company
Educational Qualification:
M.Sc/ M.Tech/MS (Biotechnology, Biochemistry or a related discipline)
Technical and Functional skills:
- Expertise in routine protein purification with affinity, size exclusion, ion exchange chromatography using AKTA FPLC systems (Unicorn software).
- Expertise in protein purification of antibodies, affinity-tagged, secreted proteins as well as "problematic" proteins (low expression, poor solubility, intra-cellular expression, prone to aggregation).
- Proficiency in protein extraction and solubilization methods, protein refolding and purification via affinity, hydrophobic interaction (HIC), ion exchange (IEX), size exclusion (SEC) and mixed-mode chromatography.
- Expertise in routine characterization of proteins includingSDS-PAGE, SE-HPLC, and biophysical techniques.
- Familiarity with mammalian and microbial protein expression is a plus
Experience:
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in Biotech/Pharma/R&D
