Job Description Summary


This position is responsible for leading key strategic initiatives within the Database Services Team focused on performance and availability of Compute infrastructure consumed by business segments. The team is composed of highly talented individuals obsessively focused with system availability through operational excellence. Roles and Responsibilities


In this role you will:


Upgrade, configure, tune, and debug all components of [Oracle/MS-SQL/Postgres] databases

Monitor database performance, space utilization, identify potential problems and ensure data integrity and data availability

Provide evaluation, architecture, and database solution design

Architect and implement HA/DR solutions to ensure application availability

Identify and lead automation of repetitive processes to minimize errors and maximize service delivery

Capacity planning and configuration management of the supporting infrastructure

Support 24/7/365 applications

Research DB technology, determine business requirements, propose changes, and develop migration and implementation plan

Provide organizational leadership in the planning, evaluation, design, development, implementation, and operation of Database solutions

Work with application teams and business leaders to formulate project plans and strategy

Ensure that vendors provide appropriate level of service. Measuring the progress of vendor engagements and correcting where necessary.

Work with the Security Team to promptly address any security and vulnerability issues


Education Qualification


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with advanced experience.


Desired Characteristics Technical Expertise:


[Oracle/MS-SQL/Postgres] database administration (certification preferred)

Demonstrable experience in developing advanced database cluster architecture designs and support models within [Linux/Solaris/Windows] environment

Advanced knowledge and experience of database and SQL performance tuning

Unix shell scripting

Ansible expertise preferred

Ability to consult customer on alignment of outcomes and desired technical solutions at an enterprise level
Ability to Analyze, design, and develop a software solution roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state of the business.
Working knowledge of configuration choices and related cost implications; Experience with complex solution configurations.
Knowledgeable of full range of solution catalog within a business unit and able to discuss overall solution at depth.
Experience sustaining operational stability through various life cycle phases (planning, implementation, steady state, de-commissioning); Ability to provision and budget via capital and operating.
Able to lead early stage customer interactions; Guide customers as they develop confidence and comfort with approaches, and integrate with their legacy tech investments.

Understand how internal and/or external business model works and facilitate active customer engagement
Able to articulate the value of what is most important to the business/customer to achieve outcomes
Able to produce functional area information in sufficient detail for cross-functional teams to utilize, using presentation and storytelling concepts.
Possess extensive knowledge of full solution catalog within a business unit and proficiency in discussing each area at an advanced level.
Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent quality certification

Leadership:


Demonstrated working knowledge of internal organization
Foresee obstacles, identify workarounds, leverage resources, rally teammates.
Demonstrated ability to work with and/or lead blended teams, including 3rd party partners and customer personnel.
Demonstrated Change Management /Acceleration capabilities

Proven analytical and problem resolution skills
Ability to influence and build consensus with other Information Technology (IT) teams and leadership
