What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

Were looking for someone who can help us effectively deliver and communicate our security services to the business. Youll do this through immersive and interactive reporting, as well as through frequent communications with our business partners

Success in Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• Review and improve our service onboarding task in order to reduce onboarding time by 25%.
• Account for and engage with 100% of our service and application owners in order to execute our service onboarding tasks.
• Create robust documentation around the 1000+ services and applications in order to empower the Security Operations Center to quickly triage and respond to events.
• Create reporting to communicate key security delivery metrics to leadership and provide analysis of those metrics to drive improvements in our service delivery capabilities.
• Create a reporting framework that will provide our stakeholders with critical security metrics using a self-service model.
• Identify and coordinate opportunities to automate the onboarding and delivery of services into our service catalog.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing regularly?

• Most of your time will be working with our reporting capabilities (PowerBI, Splunk) in order to create and update reports to leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate in-person, over slack, or through email with colleagues across the business in order to gather required information to deliver our service catalog.
• Spend your time learning VMwares processes, standards, and guidelines. Were looking for someone who can find opportunities to improve process and drive those improvements across our team.
• Engage in threat modeling sessions in order to Identify key opportunities for security monitoring.
• Coordinate improvements through process and automation to our onboarding tasks in order to create a seamless experience for new services, applications, and acquisitions.

This role reports to the Manager, Detection Content Management for VMware Threat Management. His experience includes information technology, internal audit, and security operations. His management philosophy is about encouraging teams to work collaboratively to solve large problems. If you fail, fail forward mistakes are considered opportunities to grow. Question everything and challenge the status quo If the answer is because weve always done it that way its time to take a hard look at the solution to find a better way.
