Automation Scientist Job in Clariant

Our Regional Innovation Center India is looking for a creative and highly motivated scientist with a distinctive interest to work in the High Throughput Experimentation (HTE) research group. You will have the excellent opportunity to collaborate with our Innovation Center located in Frankfurt, Germany, and together build and apply HTE techniques in conjunction with state-of-the-art automated technology for the purpose of enhancing Clariant's fundamental understanding and performance of its products.

Responsibilities

R&D Project Execution

• Scout for and drive R&D projects with creativity and endurance according to defined milestones, objectives and timelines
• Master the use of automated technology to develop new methodologies and enhance automated research capabilities
• Communicate effectively across diverse levels of the organization
• Ensure good laboratory practice and maintain a safe working environment
• Responsible for the execution of feasibilities and projects according to milestones & objectives
• Communicate project results to stakeholders on regular basis and prepare high quality reports
• Manage stakeholder expectations by maintaining transparency on project progress
• Translate standard lab workflows into new and faster High Throughput Experimentation (HTE) protocols in order to boost lab output

Collective Creativity & Collaboration

• Continuously observe, analyze and assess scientific and technical trends in areas of competence to develop ideas for new research projects
• Explore and identify unmet needs and propose new feasibilities and project opportunities
• Actively participate in problem solving and idea generation initiatives
• Advance in own field of competence and beyond to build and expand HTE capabilities into new fields of expertise
• Collaborate with other teams to identify new emerging technologies and expand CLN innovation capabilities
• Communicate and collaborate effectively across diverse levels of the organization

Knowledge Management

• Continuously generate and proactively share knowledge within technology and innovation teams from Research, Business Units and beyond
• Perform literature screening and patent filing to secure and strengthen Clariants intellectual property
• Document experimental results for knowledge sharing, retrieving and prevention of duplication of work
• Document success stories and share these in team meetings to advance the team expertise

Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science or Chemical Engineering, preferably with Synthesis or formulation focus
• Experience of 3-5 years as Scientist with experience of laboratory automation and / or high throughput screening or experimentation
• Expertise in using automated technology in an R&D environment, knowledge of Design of Experiments, Lab View and related skills is preferred
• Self-motivation and demonstrated ability for structured, independent, goal-oriented work with high motivation, ambition and reliability
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to facilitate and interact with a diverse group of stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
• Open to ideas and able to foster a cohesive and effective work environment.
• Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills in English
