TEAM/BUSINESS UNIT SUMMARY

We are seeking talented engineers to work with our Horizon Performance Engineering team. You will characterize performance and develop solutions to optimize performance for our Desktop Virtualization solutions such as Horizon View, Horizon Cloud and more. You will be working on solving hard problems spanning our complete horizontal and vertical stack (from distributed applications to software stack to hardware). You will develop solutions to improve performance and scalability, benchmarks to evaluate performance and diagnostic tools to help customers identify and root cause performance issues. You will also be working with various cross functional teams with the opportunity to research next generation software architectures for performance and cloud scale

Responsibilities:

Analyze product performance and scalability across a variety of hardware and software configurations
Develop sound methodologies for accurate performance comparisons
Understand the products in depth to be able to identify bottlenecks in code/design/architecture
Root-cause performance problems and implement solutions to resolve them
Study workload characteristics to create a balanced suite of performance workloads
Develop standard benchmarks for performance measurement
Develop and automate performance measurement and data analysis tools
Develop performance diagnostics tools in the products
Work with customers/partners to root cause and resolve performance issues
Publish research papers and product performance technical papers

Responsibilities

As part of the VMware Horizon View Engineering team, you will work on testing the Horizon product at VMwares India Center in Bangalore. As a member of the team you will develop and execute functional and API tests, write and review test plans/cases, and contribute to API and UI test automation efforts. You will closely work with developers and the Quality Engineering team within R&D to deliver quality releases in an Agile development environment. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Conducting API, black-box, and functional testing activities.
  • Test automation and code coverage analysis
  • Identify testability requirements
  • Participate in regular scrum meetings, planning and story pointing sessions, and design and code reviews
  • Train and mentor junior engineers by providing technical guidance and direction
  • Communicate technical dependencies and concerns/issues effectively
  • Create and review test strategy/plans, test cases, and test specifications
  • Design, develop and execute manual and automated tests
  • Work with PM organization in associating requirements with customer use cases
  • Work closely with VMware R&D and other Quality Engineering teams, to leverage existing test cases and test suites currently available for internal use
  • Develop techniques for effective communication and collaboration with onsite and remote members of development, QE, and PM teams
  • Take initiative to improve products, tools, and process
  • Work closely with developers to resolve issues and reproduce bugs
  • Manage activities to meet delivery dates and milestones, and communicate status and risks to QE leads and project team

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree
  • 7+ years of total Quality Assurance experience
  • 4+ years experience with test automation tools and techniques
  • Basic systems administration skills - Installing and configuring operating systems (Linux, Windows), Active directory, troubleshooting Windows
  • Good Understanding of OOPS concepts
  • Experience developing UI and functional Automation using one or more of the following tools/languages: Selenium, Silktest, Python, Core Java or equivalent
  • Good understanding of the internals of Windows operating system and Active directory
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills with ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong background in computer architecture and operating system internals
  • Experience in developing test frameworks and tools
  • Experience in Web Services testing (REST /SOAP), Web Application testing, and API test development using Java is a plus
  • Exposure to Bug Tracking Tools (viz. Jira, Bugzilla) and Test management Tools (viz. HPQC)
  • Experience in using VMware products (viz., vSphere, View etc.) is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Experience working with global teams highly desirable
