Job Description
VMwares vCenter Server is the flagship management platform for Cloud services and the Software Defined Datacenter. We are looking to take our strength and leadership in compute and virtualization and extending it from a VM-centric focus to managing app-centric, containerized workloads using Kubernetes, Docker, and other emerging container technologies.
This is where you come in. We need your help to make our infrastructure platform easier, faster and more productive for application developers.
You like open source. You like working in a lean / agile development environment (Jira, MVPs, iterations). You just know how things work and what a good design looks like. You are someone who has a track record of delivering quality software products using test-driven development. You will be highly technical, detail oriented with focus on implementation excellence. Experience and knowledge of the management of virtual and non-virtual data center environments is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Hands on experience with Container technologies (Docker and Kubernetes)
- Experience contributing to open source projects
- Experience in scalable distributed systems in Go, C++, or Java
- Proven knowledge of operating systems
- Understanding of system architecture, including processors, storage, and networking
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills with ability to work independently
- Strong fundamentals in Microservice Architecture, Distributed Systems, Concurrency, Clustering, and Multi-threaded systems.Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills.
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical fields and 6+ years of related experience in the software industry
Highly Desirable Skills:
- Proficiency and experience with virtualization and application virtualization technologies in a data center environment.
- Experience in delivering SaaS solutions and Cloud based services
- Experience with Continuous Integration processes
- Customer/Partner-facing experience
