Job Summary:

We are looking for a Solutions Test Engineer to help drive the development of VMwares Validated Designs (VVD) and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). The Hyper Converged Infrastructure Systems business unit responsible for VCF and VVD is delivering on a vision to simplify the deployment, operation and consumption of an increasing set of integrated cloud services across Private, Public and Hybrid Cloud. Enabling our customers to modernize their data centers while leveraging integrated hybrid cloud SaaS based offerings from VMware and our partners. VCF and VVD lead the industry in providing prescriptive validated designs, guidance and automation for integrated SDDC infrastructure (compute, storage, networking and security), cloud management services and operations to run legacy enterprise and next generation cloud applications in both private and public cloud environments. Who will be successful in this role?

A creative and seasoned Solution Test Engineer - think technical ninja that can think broadly and holistically at the solution level, go deep technically in some product areas and have a passion for high quality outcomes and efficiency. You will understand software development and the importance of a great customer experience. You are comfortable voicing your opinion, representing your ideas, challenging assumptions within and across teams and practice continuous learning. You likely have 5-8 years proven record in quality assurance for infrastructure platform and services and are looking for a new challenge.

You should have a proven record of delivering fully validated on-premise infrastructure or cloud based solutions, excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strength in developing and delivering test automation to increase system test coverage and product quality.

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Product Management, Solution Architects to understand new product offerings being developed and interface with Inter-operability and system testing teams to ensure that we are producing the highest quality solutions and SDDC/Cloud platform.
• Understand how new products, features, services and operational workflows fit into the existing solution offerings and ask the tough questions that our customers will need answers to.
• Document operational workflow to seed testing.
• Identify and develop new areas of test automation that replicate the customer user experience and exercise our written guidance, in order to significantly reduce our need for ongoing manual testing.
• Develop and execute UI automated testing, API testing and manual testing as appropriate.
• Identify testing requirements and lead test efforts end to end for a release.
• Plan, Drive & Deliver Test Acceptance ceremonies with stakeholder communities.
• Work in multi-functional agile team to regularly experiment, iterate, and deliver on new product objectives with an end-to-end responsibility for your team's goals. Be proactive and ready to facilitate and drive team activities end to end as needed.
• Work with other Engineers in test across the organization to share knowledge and improve your skills.
• Be proactive in evaluating and adopting new tools and practices to help improve the quality of the product and the health of the team.
• Obsess over quality in the product you create, and the automation code you write.
• Advance your technical and interpersonal skills in an environment that looks to expand them.
• Integrate and enhance the existing test automation framework to support solutions guidance testing.

• Experience in communicating with product management and other technical teams to collect requirements, describe and clarify solution features, technical designs, and solution strategy.
• Experience in testing Cloud, SaaS or on-premise applications.
• Goodunderstanding of the internals of Windows operating system and Active directory.
• Exposureto Bug Tracking Tools (viz. Jira, Bugzilla) and Test management Tools (viz. HPQC).
• Basicsystem administration skills (installing and configuring operating systems (Linux, Windows), Domain and hardware).
• Experiencein designing and developing test frameworks and tools.
• Experience deploying software and integrating with automated build tools.
• Workingknowledge of build, configuration management, and source control tools (Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Ansible, GIT, etc) and content management systems.
• Demonstrable knowledge of Scrum/Agile practices.
• Experience working with globally distributed teams would be a plus.
• BS/BE/Masters in Computer Science or equivalent relevant experience.
• 3+ years with automated testing tools and techniques.
• 5+ years with Quality experience with 3 plus years in Infrastructure software testing.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• You have worked with VMware products such as vSphere, NSX, vRealize Suite, Horizon.
• Experience in Python or Java, Selenium.
• Goodunderstanding of OOPS concepts.
• Customer consulting experience, including project delivery within a multi-disciplinary team.
• You have worked in an environment with distributed systems.
• Exposureto load/scalability testing techniques and tools (Jmeter/LoadRunner).
• Understandingof networking concepts and best-practices.
• Experiencein Web Services testing (REST /SOAP), Web Application testing, and API test development using Java.
